About Us

In the year 1935, the children of three families of the Gujarati community residing in Mangalore were studying in Gujarat. Missing their children, the three families thought of appointing a teacher right from Gujarat and called him down to stay in Mangalore. Thus was born the Gujarati Mahajan School in 1935 with the objective of promoting education in Gujarati medium to those settled in Mangalore.

With a humble beginning treading slowly and steadily on the path of success it has today come to be a government recognized English medium school located in Alake Mangalore providing equal opportunities to all irrespective of caste creed etc.

Since then, the school strength has taken a giant gallop from mere 150 to above 550 today. From the rented building it has shifted to its own block with 14 smart class oriented classrooms, a library, a spacious ‘Mathruchaya’ hall and a recently upgraded computer lab with 20 system.

With a vision of improving the quality of education, the Mahajan committee with Mr. Haridas Kotecha as the President ,set up the education committee in 2004, to look into the academic progress of the school. Mr. Hitendra Kothari as the chairperson of the committee was ably assisted a dedicated team of members. In the year 2010 , ,Mr.Neelelsh .D. Singala led the team as the chairperson . At present , Mr. Ketan J. Vardhan ,the President of Mahajan and the members have nominated Mr. Rajan H. Baldev as the chairperson of the education committee. The fore sight and vision of all these committees has contributed much towards the progress of the school.

The school is equipped with a huge play ground with an area of 3200sq. meters and gives ample opportunities to students to excel in the field under the guidance of an experienced physical instructor. Students safety is our first priority so the whole school is under the surveillance of a network of close circuit cameras.

We pride our team of dedicated and qualified 14 teaching and 7 non teaching staff who have been the pillars of our success. The support and guidance of the members of management and the education committee has been vital for the progress of the school.
